More to the point: Who besides me has a six-foot erection for the premier episode of BSG's final season?

I must say that most of the last season was a big disappointment, but the season finale restored some of my hope. BSG is the only hour long TV show I will tor... er.. watch, so I guess only = greatest.

I really dug the conflict with the Pegasus and the provocative 'New Caprica' Episodes (except for Lee's stupid fat suit). I hope they can match those episodes and not get too wrapped up in new-agey mumbo-jumbo. When does the season launch?

Twelve-footer, man. Like DFT said, the season finale reinvigorated me and the wait has been agonizing. I'm actually really glad they decided to make this the final season. I prefer when shows like these have a definite end point in sight, so the story doesn't go crazy and wear out its welcome (like LOST started doing until this season for me). Plus, now that Stargate: Atlantis and Eureka are on hiatus until next season, I need a sci-fi fix!

Last season was probably the weakest too, but I have to say that they developed the characters a little more. Not that they were poorly developed before last season, but I think they all gained a little more depth. Maybe that will help make this the best season season evar.

Season premier is April 4, so mark your calendars. I can reach mine from where I'm sitting with my ginormous erection.

Season 4 now, blankfist. Like KP said, it starts April 4th. It's not the kind of thing you want to start this late in the game though. Grab the original mini-series on DVD and then start from Season 1 after that. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. It has to be one of the better shows in recent history and that's saying a lot for something that was a re-make and not an original IP.

Admittedly, I love the original Battlestar Galactica as well, but this is so different in tone and direction as to not feel like a cheesy rip-off. Two of my friends had never seen it before and I sat them down to watch a few and now they're as obsessed if not more than I am.

Ugh.
For the last time, KP, it's called a "millimeter," NOT a foot!
When will you learn!?!

But more to the point, I've never seen it. Is it like a more socially acceptable version of Star Trek? I've always liked ST (at least TNG, Voyager and Enterprise - I never could get into TOS or DS9) but I've just never made the effort to watch BSG.

BSG is great. I was nudged into watching it by Pyrex and Raven, I finally gave in and got the first season. Within the next 3 days I watched Seasons 1, 2 and 3.

I love the characters, the psychological mind games of the Cylons and the incredible dog fighting scenes which look amazing even though it's CGI, they actually use proper aerial camera angles and it comes off looking very realistic. I don't know about the whole God angle they are perusing.

I think I will wait till the seasons over until I watch the whole thing in one sitting. I hate being dicked around waiting for the next episode.

Oh and am surprised you think Lost didn't out stay it's welcome in the first season, its the stupidest show I have ever seen. First it's flashbacks and now it's flash forwards! Oh and never rely on the characters to ask the important fucking questions!!! Oh look a polar bear and a murderous black cloud! Oh and the statue of a foot! The writers of this show are nothing but money grabbing cunts... they will never ever finish the show in any satisfying way... everyone who is following it is just building themselves for a huge disappointment ala end of X-Files when T1000 became an FBI agent post Duchovny.

I'd say its more epic than any of the Star Treks, in that way its more like star wars, where they have a seemingly insurmountable task they must succeed against. All the characters are well developed and flawed, something I relish as too many times our hero's are personality less, 1 dimensional and/or stoic. There's a good bit of poignant social commentary, often on current events, I know that can turn some people off, but I like it. Plus I don't know many other shows that have made me switch between loving and hating a character so many times.

But anyways if you're a big sci-fi fan I highly recommend watching it. Its kind of hard to pick up mid-way through, but all the episodes and mini-series are on DVD, and probably available to rent at your local video store. Worth a try I say.

As for the original post and the rest proceeding it, I have taken to not wearing pants as none can contain the massive erection I have for the show's return, and I am very glad this is the last season because I'd hate for a good show to get ruined by being dragged out longer than is plausible for the given plot.

I lost interest around the middle of season 2. The Pegasus captain being a supermodel stretched my suspension of disbelief to the breaking point.

Also, got a bit tired how they were always trying to go for the parallels in US foreign policy.

I also found the cast all-together too "pretty" with the exception of Tigh and Adama. Apollo is a real milquetoast - and makes me shiver with discomfort when he gets all angsty.

Just my two cubits ...

Well, I'm honestly not the biggest sci-fi fan by any means, but DAMN... I LOVE BSG. I can't wait!!!

I've been having wet dreams about Kara Thrace since season 1 (which is saying a lot since the original Starbuck was a guy...)
so, of course, I declare it *quality

I'd love to ask Ron Moore to write a couple of balls for Lee this season. His whining and crying last year was painful.

Oh and since we're all mentioning ST too, I'm a TOS purist baby!

My husband and I watched Star Trek: Insurrection last week and laughed so damn hard I almost peed my breeches.

Loved season 1 and started season 2 and got sidetracked ... I have it and season 3 netflix'd so I can catch up.

Greatest show? no, great show, yes.

Greatest TV show. Deadwood.

Some episodes have the "vibe" of great movies, I'm reminded of some moments with 6 and Baltar, some of the relationship bulls-stuff between Lee and starbuck is a bit too much for me. This will be the first season I've watched un-medicated so that should be new..

Farhad that was a perfect summing up of Lost too.

Youdiejoe, agreed. Writing very credible, sets unbelievably realistic, characters addictive-Best western ever made for television-(saw Hitman yesterday and there was bald Sheriff Bullock, Timothy Olyphant, killing ever cocksucker in sight.....

Favorite line from the first season, came from Johnny Burns (Sean Bridgers), as he watches Mr. Woo walk up the stairs at the Gem, to see Al Swerengen...
