Well, went and saw Star Trek tonight. Anyone else see it yet? And what were/are your thoughts? I actually really liked it. Lots of outright and subtle references to the Original ST, plus even a shout out to Captain Archer amazingly enough. The guy who played Bones (Karl Urban) did a fantastic job. Simon Pegg was great as Scotty. All around good job I think. I'll most likely see it again. Definitely will add it to my movie collection.

LOL oops. Sorry it was late and I was a little buzzed. So no-one's seen this yet or has any comments, eh?

I thought it was absurd fun and a nice example of how gutsy direction can sell a flawed script.

pretty nice flick, lots of stuff to watch, although i wish my expectations had been lower.

as a marvel comic book fan, i like the wolverine movie a lot more.

Good, but not great.

You could make the same formulaic sci-fi flick without the Star Trek name attached to it.

Spock was the only saving grace and the reason I'll get the DVD.

Saw it a few days ago and was disappointed. You take away the SFX and the novelty of actors impersonating the original characters and the plot feels very threadbare. The villain is exceptionally weak and because it's about these characters getting together for the first time there's not much to build a story on apart from flinging them into various action set pieces.

Flashily directed by that Lost guy and mostly centres on Kirk and Spock without doing anything interesting with them.

Having seen it I'm surprised it was so well received. I preferred Khan and ST IV.
